Research & Strategy

Appalachian Trail Conservancy

Overview

I led our work with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in my time at P’unk Avenue, which was focused on their broader relevancy goals, a priority within their five-year strategic plan for 2019.

We were tasked with presenting insights, strategies and recommendations in support of the organization reaching their strategic goals centered around making the Appalachian Trail relevant to a younger and more diverse audience, ensuring the protection, preservation and enjoyment of the Appalachian Trail for generations to come.

  • Synthesized existing research and work within the organization and peer institutions.

  • Interviewed and surveyed project stakeholders, which included: ATC staff, volunteers, board members, partners and experts in the field.

  • Facilitated a design-thinking workshop that engaged staff, volunteers, committee members and K-12 teachers in the TTEC (Trails To Every Classroom) program to generate a shared vision for the future of the Appalachian Trail and ways they can collectively engage the desired audience.

  • Presented insights and data from our research, as well as strategic recommendations for achieving their broader relevancy goals.
